Itinerary description
We started from Italy (Rome) well informed about a cycle-tourist trip, with our bike packed with carton (could be improved), and boarded on the airplane as checked luggage (our hand luggage was the bags bike). Once in Vienna our next destination - the start of the trip - was Linz, so we took the metro and the train to Linz; everything was very easy (remember to buy tickets and make a reservation for the bikes as well as for you) also if the signs are almost all in German (English is not spoken by almost anyone, despite what the guides said). Linz is a cute little town, well maintained and clean that we visited by bike in a hour. We stayed at the Hotel Steigener - clean and cared, along the Danube cycle - and we have eaten traditional Austrian food in a characteristic pub on the main street. Early morning we started our trip with destination Grein. Fairytale landscape with steps almost entirely in the woods, on a better path taken care of your own home. On the way, you can easily visit the small villages composed of very few houses, which are also delicious, with the carefully manicured gardens. Churches and small museums delicious. Unforgettable. How memorable the hospitality received by Hermann and Brigitte, in their farm in ST. Nikola village at the end of a slope with a very high gradient !!, obviously made with the bike by pushing .... They cooked dinner for us at their house and we ate there with the other guests. It has been a really cozy evening, despite the cold outside and the rain, but the view of the river that we could see from the house was worth the time.
