Itinerary description
The final days of our two-year journey pass by as we pedal our way from Phnom Penh to Siem Riep. Taking time to visit Koh Dach, also known as the Silk Island, we meet many local ladies working their looms to create silk products that are both beautiful and unique. The ferry crossings and dry and dusty roads continue as we make our way northwards, the rural landscapes constantly changing. On route, we visit the pre-Angkorian temples of Sambor Prei Kuk, spectacular examples of the robust building techniques of the Chenla Kingdom many of which date back to the 6th century. The final kilometres leading into Siem Riep are of marathon proportions, a total of 176 kilometres for the day, but the extra time on the road provides an opportunity for reflection as the sun sets on the final day of cycling through South East Asia.
