Gap of Dunloe, The idea was good in principle, rent a bike in O'Sullivan's Killarney (15 Euros) pedal up to Ross Castle and board the bike in a boat that takes you and the bike to Lord Brandon' s Cottage (15 Euros more) and from there it is necessary to make the iconic Gap of Dunloe (It appears in all the guides of the zone as the indispensable trail of Ireland) in the bike, to leave in Katy Kearney's Cottage and to return to Killarney to return the bike. The real result is not exactly the same.
The bike at O'Sullivan's was great, we picked it up at 9:30, good people, supermobiles and majors. We arrived at the Ross Castle jetty with time, we wanted to take it easy but ohhhhhhhh the boat does not leave until 11, so to make time walking around there.
The boat ride beautiful, but a cold that you die, and as you do not move in the boat then ....... more.
We disembarked as planned, in Lord Bandon's Cottage and we had a soup that tasted like glory, and the cold is over because from here the next two kilometers are uphill to reach the head of Gap of Dunloe,
The views from here are spectacular and it's all down and flat until you get to Kularney again.
Just as they sell it, it is a "path through remote and lost valleys that discover the true Irish nature, etc, etc." in practice it is asphalted in its entirety, full of people, junction cars, cars and people walking, come on! Okay, the views are nice but come on, that's it.
There is an option to leave the bike and make the journey by foot or in junction car between the cottage and bus to Ross Castle and Katy Kearney's Cottage,
