Itinerary description
Very nice day tour out of the Zermatt ski resort, ending in the village of Täsch (you can get back to Zermatt by train). Can also be used as a way to access the Täsch Hut. However, the descent from the Fluehorn down to the main valley towards Täsch goes down avalanche terrain. Do NOT ski it unless conditions are stable.
Take one-way uplift to the Unterrothorn at 3104m. Ski down the piste. Turn off left to skin up the Chessi valley to the col. You can go on to the nearby Fluehorn summit, best done on foot. Great ski down from the col, with some 30+ degree slopes, to the main Täsch valley. If you want to access the Täsch Hut, ski on down to 2200m (the small village) and then skin back up - trying to cut across directly looks risky and difficult. Otherwise, just keep skiing on down, eventually following a road but often shortcutting the hairpin bends. When you run out of snow, walk down into the village to the train station.
