The day before, 3 people from the group, we had already made an attempt at the Storgalten. It was very bad weather and we had an abortion at 680 very close to the neck.

We finally woke up with a more or less acceptable day, clouds not rushing. Let's try again !! Here in Lyngen, when it's good, you have to take advantage. If the weather is regular as well, then it is very changeable and the weather forecast is just a very indicative forecast.
Most of the group of 8 drive to the Sandnesset Fish Farm jetty, where the "normal" ski route leaves and as the book * marks.
I, taking advantage of the fact that we sleep in a hut very close by, take the opportunity to walk from it. All I have to do is cross the Storvoll Bridge on foot, and I can put my skis on the side of the road. To reach the height of the Sandnesset fish farm, I go up through the snowy gardens of a couple of houses and find a snow trail where snowmobiles have passed and it takes me to the fence where they will come from. my fellow Sandnesset. Already on the normal route and with our companions, we cross the forest on the right of the Galtdalen Gálttavággi torrent. The birch trees end, and an immense shovel of endless snow appears before us. The summit is covered almost all the time. There are quite a few groups, almost all with a guide.
We go up calmly making wide turns, and when it gets straighter we go forward making comfortable turns. We reach a very wide neck, although it is not necessary, because before that you can turn right. From the neck on the left you can make the LilleGalten, the little Storgalten, lower but also with a good snow shovel.
It is very cold and windy. We warm up a bit. Some put knives, because past the neck you can see a straighter, more windy shovel where there are some stones. It is the little difficulty of the day. We overcame this step more comfortably than we thought. There was no need for knives. Once past the ledge, we enter the fog and wind through the snow to reach the top. It does a bit of resolving, but it just doesn’t open. Photos, off skins and down.
Before overcoming the straighter ledge again, the snow is a bit windy with small bushes and there is no light contrast. We go down slowly, crossing a lot of people going up.
Once we have overcome the protrusion, which we take care of because there are stones, there is better visibility and we start to climb. The shovel in front of us is like "perfect", ideal slope, wide with space for everyone ... dream. We enjoy brave chaining turns as if they were good, you see. There is a lot of excitement in the group.
Lots of photos to remember. At the entrance of the forest, I separate from the group on the left where I flank among birches, to follow the track to the road, the bridge and the hut where we stay.
Great day of skiing!

This route is No. 6.2 of the book * "Ski touring in Troms" (2018) by Espen Nordahl, published by Fri Flyt.
