Itinerary description
Not a very difficult day but long, and the traverse around to the Monte Rosa is not obvious (if you don't have tracks to follow) and takes time, you need to skin the last sections.
Use one-way uplift to get to the Stockhorn ski station, 3405m. Skin up and along the ridge - take in the Stockhorn with a short bootpack for some good views. From the Stockhorn pass we headed across to a random bump on the Italian frontier for some great views into Italy. Then skied down to about 2850m before starting a slowly rising traverse with skins to reach the new Monte Rosa Hut.
