First day in Lyngen. We came from Tromsø and arrived late in the morning at the cottage we had rented for the week. We are in North Lenangen on the corner of Straumen Bridge (or Storvoll, I don't know ...) in North Lyngen, Norway.
Due to bad weather, snow and wind, but we are very motivated by the arrival in the area, we choose an easy peak, with little slope (little risk of avalanches) and short: Rundfjellnasen of 595 m. No commitment.
We leave from the same hut with our skis at our feet, at an altitude of 0 m (or maybe 3 m).
Near the west side of the Storvoll Bridge, we follow the side of a street that quickly reaches the last house. We enter a very nice birch forest. It's snowing more and more, but we're doing it. Slight slope. No more mary.
When the trees are finished, we no longer have any reference of the space, and we follow the GPS because except for some big rock, everything is white.
We sense that near the ridge the snow is colder. At the top, it is very cold and very windy. Very nasty. There is a giant rock landmark and a twisted iron bar. Outside skins and down.
The snow near the summit is very icy. Once again, the snow improves, so does the visibility, and we make some nice enough turns with little slope.
We arrive at the cabin where we stay with our skis at our feet.
This route does not appear in the book "Ski touring in Troms" (2018) by Espen Nordahl, published by Fri Flyt.
