Itinerary description
Great loop from the Sorteny car park. Up Rialb valley to the refuge, then up right to the Port de Banyell. Fun easy ski down to the right. Then 300 vertical metre skin back up to Portella de Cebollera. The only bit of the entire tour that is not easy is approaching the portella - it might be a little tricky if the snow was icy and you generally need to bootpack the last 10 metres to the col. Then fun ski down varied terrain into the Sorteny valley and back to the car.

The route is fantastic, however you need to be careful of the "moderate" designation. It's a long route with two long climbs, They're not technically difficult however you need to be in good shape. Recent snow falls will slow you down making the circuit longer and more tiring.
The day we did it was fairly deep snow and the portella was tough. We found ourselves up to our hips in snow trying to boot pack out and it took a while especially with dead legs.
Check the conditions. Recent snow makes this a long, tiring walk. Conversely if there was ice at the portella, you may need crampons and axes to exit. Only for experienced mountaineers with a good level of fitness.
