Itinerary description
Lovely tour, something different to do out of the Ransol valley. From the parking where the road ends, follow the snow-covered road, then turn left to skin up the floor of the Riu del Meners valley. Follow the valleys up to the Collada de la Coma 2637m (one time I've had to climb the top of the snow canal with boot crampons, this time we moved onto the rock and hiked up the rocky slope to the top - not technical).
There are beautiful views from the col and a glorious ski down (about 400m down) to around 2200m, traversing round to skiers left lower down, to get around the rocky ridge. Then skin up 300m to the Collet de la Costa de Bony Reig 2437m. Ski down varied slopes below until the forest channels you into a snow canal down the river gully. Traverse left at the bottom until you meet the road. Walk back to the car.
Vall del Riu is seldom visited, which means you are more likely to see wildlife there.
