Itinerary description
Lovely tour, a couple of notes.
1. Low down, it is better to skin up on the right hand side (northern side) of the Riu de Cebollera. Our route works but is unnecessarily steep.
2. It is better to cross into France at the waypoint, rather than at the actual Portella de la Cebollera, as we did. We had to to skin up a 35+ degree slope and ski off a 45+ degree slope.
Even from the waypoint, you are still briefly skiing down a 40+ degree slope.
Take boot crampons and axe, in case of difficult conditions.
The rest of the tour is moderate in difficulty. There is plenty of potential to extend the loop on the French side of the border.
