Itinerary description
Climbing Yotei-Zan from NE aspect. Nice mellow touring at the begging that starts getting steepest arriving at the end of the trees line. Like almost every volcano is affected by the wind on the summit so depends on the conditions you might need crampons and piolets from 1500mts. We did it with ski boots and the grip was enough.
After the summit, we ski down into the crater on the SE aspect and we found crusty snow after few sunnies and warm days. If you are eager to get good snow the best idea is to surround the edge of the crater and ski down the E and N aspects.
What we like most about this route were the many choices to go down on all the shoots/couloirs that you can pick the rick hillside to get good snow. If you choose one of the shoots you have to be careful with the cracks on the bottom of the galley.
We would like to encourage you to ask excuse to de mountain before going, bring your stuff back and park only where is allowed.

Thank you for the write-up and route! We've added a link to it in our write-up of a similar ski touring route up the Kyogoku Trail (on our site...can't seem to post links here in comments on Wikiloc).
