Itinerary description
It was Saturday 29th when we took the car to travel to Hubelmatte. Our plan was to get to Iffigenalp, but it was impossible because there was 45cm of fresh snow...
So, we parked the car, prepared everything and we started to ski. The first part of the trip, we decided to follow the road. When we arrived to Iffigenalp, we left the road and we started to follow the summer path. Considering that the avalanche risk was high, it is recommended to follow the summer path until we arrive at Iffigsee. The lake was still icy and full of snow, so we could pass thought the middle.
Then, we continued to South-West, passed the Sandbode and then we arrived in Wildhornhütte.
In our case, because it was too early, we decided to go about 200m more so we could do a little downhill and enjoyed the fresh snow.
We spend the night in a wonderful refuge.
The next day, at 7 in the morning we started too climb again. The intention was to arrive at the summit of the Wildhorn. Outside the refuge, we went to South-West direction and at the end of this valley we changed to the South. At that point, we had enter at the Chilchligletscher. We had to continue towards this glacier though the South-West and we immediately entered to Tungelgletscher.
Before arriving at the end, we changed to South and then we were in the Glacier du Wildhorn.
There, it’s only necessary to continue to South-West to arrive at the summit.
We had a spectacular day, and we enjoyed the views that we had at the top.
To return, we did the same route that we did to climb. We arrived to the car exhausted but also with the reward of a fantastic tour.
Of course, I recommend this route!!!
