Itinerary description
We had to carry the skis for about 5 minutes until we find sufficient snow (1,350m). From there, we'll follow a trail that will take us up to around 1,700m. At times, we've ascended through the forest. The route depends heavily on the amount of snow you encounter.
Once we reach 1,700m, a majestic and impressive visual spectacle unfolds before us. In front of us, over the In der Hölle valley (translated as "to hell"), we have the Weißeck (2,711) to our right and the Seewand to our left. The alpine scenery is very scenic and a feast for the eyes.
We progress without problems towards the inferno until we see our goal for today, the Felskarpitze (2,506m). The main attractions of this peak are the views and the multiple descents that can be made from the cirque.
Today, we'll use the same descent route as there are cornices due to the wind, and we see some slabs. The final stretch is easy, and the snow is less icy than expected, which saves us from using the crampons.
Once at the summit, we enjoy the views and the spectacular wall of the Weißeck. Additionally, we have a good coffee at the summit! With better snow conditions, a circular route can be done that incorporates this peak and descends through the adjacent valley.
We also mentally sketch a circular route that would take us to the Barleitenkop (2,431), descend to Nahendfeldalm, and ascend to the Seeköpfl (2,225m). There is no shortage of ideas!
