Itinerary description
Last Saturday we went to the sky resort Engstligenalp to climb the Grossstrubel (our first 3000 of the season).
It’s possible to do all the trip by public transport (SBB). You have to travel by train until Frutingen and then change to the bus until Adelboden, Unter dem Birg. There, we caught a cable car through the sky resort.
We put on our skies and we started to walk in the South-West direction. The first kilometre is in a large even. Then we started to climb up the first slope in the same direction and then change to South/South-Est.
In about 400m+ more, we arrived in a little mountain pass where the difficult part starts. To summit the real mountain pass we had to change to the West direction and then start a difficult flank where the crampons and ice axe it would be necessary. In our case, we could do without.
At this point, the little glacier starts and we had to continue in the East direction to arrive to the summit. The views were wonderful and we enjoyed it a lot!!
The return is done on the same route as we did to climb.
It was a fantastic day.
