Itinerary description
This is an undeveloped (free) area of forests and valleys that lead to the large punchbowl crater, in the series of the Mono Craters. Mono Lake is just north and the June Lake turnoff from 395 is your starting point. Park on the west side of 395 at a public recreation lot near the gas station. The skiing is very nice with rolling hills for easy turning. Some of the trail is on dirt roads that cross all over the area. Although there are snowmobile tracks I never have seen them running, its an out of the way place. Lunch at the crater is nice.
