20190307 Romsdal Smørbottind (1,188 m)

20190307 Arrival at Isfjorden (Møre og Romsdal, Norway). On the 6th we left from Bilbao and stopping in Frankfurt and Oslo until we reached Molde, we rented a car and in an hour and a half and having taken a ferry, we settled in a cabin in Isfjorden. And the next day and seeing that the snow is not at sea level, with cloudy day and forecast of storm we went to explore a southern face, from Skorgedalen, where is the parking Rauma Skicenter, which I think only has a drag. The mountain roads with parking have a barrier and you pay by card, about € 8 per car.

The parking lot is 315 m above sea level and we will go to Smørbottind, 1,188 m, which faces north, so we will skied back to the south shovel. The sun seems to want to leave but when we get up there is little visibility and the snow has a slight crust that does not let us ski at ease with this visibility ... Well, minus 200 meters we enjoy it. At the end of the ridge, on the left as we climbed is the Kvasstinden (1,180 m) but the snow was somewhat worse there to ski, throw something more to the south.

From the parking garage you can pull to the left to make another Skarven mountain (1048) with east and south shovels. Or climb the slopes to look for oestes faces, in the Nyseter-Skarven of 790 m. Skarven is in Norwegian as they call mounds or coilinas, there are many of them, of course.

900 meters of elevation gain, 10 km, in 2h 45 'at a quiet pace.

We finish before 13:00 and it does not seem clear, so we will make purchases to eat and drink, and give us a rule by Åndalsnes.
