Eighth day in the heart of Urho Kekkonen National Park, Finland. It's 5 o'clock in the morning; the alarm sounds. Quickly, everyone gathers their belongings, while the water is heated for breakfast. Today is our last day of crossing and plastic bags are accumulated: the rest of the bread, the last cookies; There are no more cereals left. We fill the canteens with hot water so that it lasts all day and at 6:15 p.m. we are ready to leave the shelter. Outside -11ºC; a light wind blows. In the reconnaissance of yesterday we discovered that it is possible to avoid crossing the slippery bridge that is in front of the shelter to cross the river a hundred of meters above, towards the south, where still it is covered by the snow. The pulkas go light and we climb at a good pace the hill that leads to the Harrikaara valley, full west, which we cross to the pass between the Vintilätunturr (470 m) and the Solustamaselkä (408 m). If conditions permit, we would like to arrive at the shelter of Suomunruoktu (autio-varaustupa, 290 m) before 11 o'clock for once there, deciding whether or not to continue until Kiilopää. The dawn on the frozen tundra offers a magnificent landscape: a white ocean that extends until touching the horizon. The temperature has not risen since we left the shelter: -11ºC, more than acceptable for the exercise we do. After the pass we start a long detour to the north and enter the Ailaoja valley. Shortly after Lake Aitalampi (245 m) we crossed the Suomujoki River at a point marked by a log cabin and a bridge (242 m). The road then climbs again and 2 km later, well before the schedule we had set, we reached Suomunruoktu. It's 10:30 am: it can not go better! We are going well of forces and we entered to take a hot snack. Some sausage, a rest of bread and nuts that came from there and nougat from the good Portal del Angel to the health of Rubén! Three quarters of an hour later we take the route again, but this time, at a more relaxed pace: we know that we will soon reach Kiilopää and, still, there are many hours of light ahead. A radiant day ago; we enjoy the landscape. Going up the Suomujoki River on the left bank, going north-northwest, at the moment when the valley divides into three between the massifs of the Terävänkivenpää (514 m) and the Rautupää (540 m), we begin the ascent of the north-west ridge until we reach to the cross-country trails of Kiilopää Retkeilyreitit. Behind the hill, the flanking of the Niilanpää is heavy and we have been skiing for many hours since the morning, with the pulkas braking at that point on the side slope. At 4:30 p.m. we enter Kiilopää and it is with emotion that we pass the large wooden door that wishes to welcome visitors to the mountain center, ending this journey.
