Itinerary description

One of the many historic sites in Tonto National Forest. This one follows a fairly rocky trail (with some nice rock free flats where you can open 'er up should you choose), and finishes with a 100-ish yard hike up a fairly steep hill (watch for rattlers!). But the payoff is full of petroglyps on top of what has to be one of the best spots anywhere close for near 360deg views of the valleys, mountains and forest. Simply beautiful... take a minute to sit and listen to the quiet, and reflect on sharing a sacred spot for people long ago passed.

PS: I marked this "Difficult" because of the relatively steep on foot hike up to the payoff. Definitely not for those with knee hip or balance issues, at least not without trekking poles for added stability.

It may look like you can drive up further. Don't. Park here in this turn around and hike it on foot the rest of the way.
